Of the variety of nightclubs that a young clubber might visit in London, the Global Village under Charing Cross tube station was an important venue.
I like to think that Jamie might have taken Katarin on her first foray into the clubbing scenes (there were many different ‘scenes’ and later these scenes would become tribes) to the Global Village, and then on to another one or two, to show her some of the city ambience she would not have known.
By 1980, the Global Village would become Heaven, the iconic gay nightclub of the 1980s. But in 1979, just around the corner from the Global, on Leicester Square, Adams was a famous, and very popular gay nightclub that Jamie may also have frequented. Adams later turned into Subway, in a sleazier dive into a cruising venue, and would be closed by the city council during the AIDS crisis.
