Situated near the Angel Tube Station, and within easy walking distance to City University, this historic pub would have been a magnet for students, in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The ambience might have suited a shy journalism student, eager to find out and understand more about the milieu she’d landed herself in, but reluctant to try to talk. The noise would have given her a perfect excuse to observe people, without feeling she had to try to communicate.
