When we’re growing up, it may seem as if there are only two ways to communicate: with our voices and with the written word. But unconsciously perhaps, we’re learning all the time about the communication we’ve come to call ‘body language.’
I’ve thought that this kind of communication is something that actors understand better than the rest of us.
It’s a truism too, isn’t it, that if one sense is blocked, like sight, then other senses (hearing, touch, smell) become heightened in sensitivity to help the sightless individual create the world around them.
How much better at understanding these other communication skills, do you suppose, a person with a profound stammer might be?
