The Sony Walkman

Released on the 1st of July, 1979, the very first Sony Walkman was a truly portable cassette player that made sense of all the mix-tapes created at that time.

I might imagine that Katarin could have been given her Walkman as a congratulations gift by her family, as she embarked on her journalism study courtesy of a grant from the European Council’s Joint Study Programme. Perhaps purchased in the late summer, she’d have loved the little machine that brought music to her ears.
