Today the distribution or, at least, notification going out to online catalogues, of the paperback format for The Song Cannot Be Silenced, has begun.
The Distribute button was pressed at IngramSpark, and the title is said to be ‘live’ at least in terms of visibility, as it’s now ‘Enabled for Distribution’ worldwide. Apparently, it will take 2-6 weeks from today before it appears in the online catalogues which will mean bookstores and libraries can place a pre- order with their local distributor, to receive a copy for their customers within a few days of the book’s actual release. This process is called ‘Print-On-Demand’ and it’s transformed the delivery of printed books.
A similar process is taking place for the audiobook format of the book, through Voices by INaudio, as the audiobook notification is distributed far and wide to some 31 different audiobook stores online.
The eBook format has been available for pre-order on Amazon for a week or so, but in every case and format, the paperback, eBook or audiobook will not actually be ‘released’ until the 10th of September.
On that date, the launch of The Song Cannot Be Silenced will take place, with author’s hard copies of the paperback on sale at The CatStrand, New Galloway. Those books have now been ordered and should be delivered by the 1st of August, so that they’ll be ready for signing.
It’s quite a process, bringing three formats of a novel to market, and it will be a great delight soon to see the title appearing in online catalogues in anticipation of orders prior to the actual release of the book.
Everything is building up for the launch date of the 10th of September.
